Strategies of Documentation

I want to discuss some problems and my experiences when I to do my project.
- How you are approaching documenting your development process.

Chinese have a saying called a busy hand is better than a good memory. It means if u have any problem you better to write down. In addition, when I get some inspirations I always write on my notebook, also include problems. And then put on my blog, it is help to remember.
In general,I write blog once a day,for example,I follow my time plan to do my final project now, so I often give a conclusion when I write blog,Moreover, how to solve problems and reflect my work are most important point.

- Why this is an appropriate process for your particular project.
As I say,I always need to give conclusions and then to understand my weakness. Meanwhile,I can find my problems and to solve them, this is really good for help.

- How you are approaching reviewing your documentation and reflecting upon your activity.

When everyday I finish my work I always review and write down something unsure, until weekend,I collect my problems and unsure questions to solve or change them

- Some preliminary judgments or observations about how effective your planned strategy is.

In my opinion,It requires a long head to solve successfully the problems of works. Before we start to do some things,we need a full preparation。For example,we need to understand topic and do some research before  we start one project。At the same time, give the outline, and then think about how to do and make a plan.

- Any changes you plan to make
In general, before I start my project,I will make a plan. During the initial stage of the work,I will make a revise according to need, such as different technique problems, afterwards I don’t want to change too much, except some details and easy questions.

- Any especially effective or striking aspects you think might be useful to other members of the group.

In my opinion, write down your questions on notebooks,do more research and review on every week are really useful ways to improve yourself ,I know The talk is no more than a platitude, but undeniable, they are very useful.

Painting style

About painting style,I was drawn lessons from some amazing animations, like 12 Chinese Zodiac Signs,Nezha Conquers the Dragon King,8 Calabash Brothers……

They all produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio in 90s, and they also popular in that time. They are special memory for me when I was a child. The painting style of them are really traditional style and more like traditional Chinese realistic painting and display more details.

Traditional Chinese realistic painting —— Most traditional Chinese paintings are devoted to flowers and birds; and according to the different types of brushwork, these paintings can be divided into freehand ink-and-wash paintings, which are characterized by vivid expression and bold outlines, and realistic paintings, which are characterized by fine application of lines and colors.

Main Characters — Qilin

In my work, I didn’t use traditional image,I changed something, like Qilin’s horns. I design its horns with flame, flame means hope, fearlessness and justice. In the meantime, Qilin not only has one tail, in my story it has five tails, it also means power and fair.

Fire is the symbolize of HOPE, LIGHT and JUSTICE. So i also used RED,GOLDEN to draw Qilin.
And its body's colour is jasper. In China, people always use this colour to make some mascots. Even used in Royal family for Emperor's Seal. It's made of jade.

Qilin stand on the clouds, this is propitious Clouds. Propitious Clouds is from ZHOU Dynasty, in the ancients opinion, cloud is a symbol of auspicious and get promoted at every step, they are made by GOD. Of course they are a symbol of rich, happines, also proitious, and then, often used in Royal family. It is a representative point of China.
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, designer also used propitious clouds to design the torch
Figure1: propitious Clouds

Figure2: propitious Clouds

And the cloud is purple. In China, it is said “A purple cloud comes from the east”it means “A propitious omen (from the east) is   approaching”so purple also means  RICH, AUSPICIOUS, LUCKY, HAPPINESS

Red — SUN, POSTITIVE, LUCKY, HAPPINESS

Golden — DIGNITY, KING, RICH, AUSPICIOUS

Purple — In China, it is said “A purple cloud comes from the east”it means “A propitious omen(from the east)is   approaching”so purple also means  RICH, AUSPICIOUS, LUCKY, HAPPINESS

Research — other people’s works

Qilin may have the body of a deer, or an ox, or a horse. The body of the Qilin is also covered with the scales of a fish. It is often depicted with what looks like fire all over its body. Dragons in China are also most commonly depicted as golden, therefore the most common describe of Qilin are also golden, but are not limited to just gold, and can be any color of the rainbow, Although they can look fearsome, Qilin only punish bad guys.

Main Characters

So Qilin and Aoyin they all come from this book.

Legends describe Qilin as a gentle and peaceful creature. In Buddhist depictions of the creature, for instance, the Qilin is shown to be walking on clouds, as it refuses to harm even a single blade of grass by walking on it. In the meantime, in some stories, the Qilin is capable of incinerating people, and possesses a variety of supernatural powers. These abilities are only revealed, however, when it is required to defend innocent people from the malice of evil.

Figure 1: Qilin

Figure 2: Qilin

According to Richard (2002) Aoyin resembled an ox but with four horns and hair like a straw. And cry like an infant. But the Aoyin was a predacious animal and known how to kill and devour humans. Also was a cruel monster.

Figure 3: Aoyin

I combine Chinese fairy tale and western culture to creative a story and talk about set off to symbolize good can defeat evil. And metaphor someone who is a generous self-sacrificing man.
